NELSPRUIT -Many moons ago there was Word of Mouth (Womf), then Looklocal hit the digital space and now you can read your favourite local newspaper’s online version on its new title site that went live today!
As part of the Caxton group’s digital expansion plan, every newspaper title will now also have its own unique domain online. This means that within the Lowveld Media stable, you will be able to browse the title sites of Lowvelder, Mpumalanga News, Nelspruit Post, White River Post, Hazyview Herald, Barberton Times, Corridor Gazette and Steelburger/Lydenburg News online!
Every site will be filled with the unique content of its area and it will also provide the reader an opportunity to become more interactive with their own communities.
While Looklocal will still serve its unique audience and purpose, your preferred title will now be area specific with its content. The first to roll out of Lowveld Media’s title sites were www.lowvelder.co.za and www.nelspruitpost.co.za.
Steelburger/Lydenburg News has also gone live and all the local news of the Lydenburg, Mashishing, Steelpoort, Burgersfort and Orighstad could be viewed by the readers on www.steelburgernews.co.za.
Managing editor of Lowveld Media, Ms Irma Green, says the sites now afford the community the opportunity to jump in and share their content.
“We already have two bloggers who have joined us. Tracy Todd is a respected member of the community whose blog has inspired hundreds of people over the world. Now her inspirational stories will be available on our sites!
Leon Maré is a former Lowvelder who has retired in the Western Cape. For many years though, Leon was involved in animal-related actions and has built up amazing stories of how things work in the wild.
His blog ‘Wild stuff in Africa’ is going to have you in awe.” But, Lowveld Media also invites all other potential bloggers in the community to contact the company if they want to get involved. Green says they also want to encourage the community to send in those special photos of weddings and graduation ceremonies as they would be honoured to use it online.
“The great thing about the digital space is that, unlike newspapers, we can never run out of space.
“It hasn’t always been possible to use all the copy we have received from our community, but now we can. Schools can now send us all their news and we can use it. “So if you have events happening mail it to us and Lowveld Media can assist. Every person with an email also receives a funny video at least once a week.”
The online team encourages all out there to share their news and events with them so they can make sure it is shared with the rest of the Lowveld.
So make sure you pop in at the site. You can also find your daily dose of national news highlights! “We are becoming a one-stop site for news. With the latest edition we are now complementing our Facebook profile pages, BBM message system and daily tweets that come from the newsroom.
