Four charities benefit from golf day
Makro held a golf day to raise funds for charity at the White River Golf Club on Friday afternoon.
WHITE RIVER – General manager, Mr Ed Borcher, marketing manager, Mr Glen Walton and and the custodian of the Makro annual charity golf day, Ms Anabela Valongo told Lowvelder that they had decided on four charities to benefit from their annual event.
“This is our way to get involved with the community and make a difference in it.
This day was about having fun and in the process helping, so the biggest prize winners are the charities.”
One of the orginisations which benefited was the Makro Employee Educational Trust which helps the non-managerial personnel with bursaries for their children’s education.
The Greater Rape Intervention programme received a R20 000 donation, and KaMagugu Inclusive School which helps mentally impaired children, also got
R20 000.
The Casterbridge Music Development Academy received R10 000.
Four bands, Vital Crew, Township Routes, Apple Finger and Café Wha? entertained the golfers before and after the prize-giving and cheque handovers to the beneficiaries.
The winners of the golf day were New Era Chickens, which each went home with a brand-new Weber braai.
