Martial artists return from successful overseas championships

The local Wolves Martial Arts Academy proudly welcomed their world champions back on Saturday, 26 October 2013 after successful participation in Rotterdam, the Netherlands at the World Tang Soo Do Championships hosted in the period 12 - 13 October 2013.

The local Wolves Martial Arts Academy proudly welcomed their world champions back on Saturday, 26 October 2013 after successful participation in Rotterdam, the Netherlands at the World Tang Soo Do Championships hosted in the period 12 – 13 October 2013.

The following students participated in the championships:

Frans Naude
Eulalia Jordaan
Sunet van Tonder
Chane Schwirzer
Tiaan Schwirzer
Jacobus Meyer
Jana Dent
Gerhard Oosthuizen
Roux Burger

Master Xander Davis, Wolves’ professional instructor, who was coaching all the Lowveld dojangs’ students who formed part of the South African National – and Development Teams; and who was also the co-coach for Team SA, set the tone for SA at the first day of the championships by winning the first gold medal for the SA Team in the Korean Sword form category.

The final results were as follows:

Master Xander Davis 1 Gold
Eulailia Jordaan 4 Gold, 1 Silver & 1 Bronze
Frans Naude 1 Gold, 2 Silver
Sunet van Tonder 1 Silver & 1 Bronze
Chane Schwirzer 1 Bronze
Jacobus Meyer 1 Bronze

Wolves Dojang acknowledged the students’ commitment and training prior to the championships which evidently bore the expected results. All ten students trained an average of three hours per day for 6 days a week for the last 6 weeks prior to departure to the Netherlands.
