LYDENBURG – The sheriff of the court might as well have his own office at Thaba Chweu Local Municipality.

Yet another notice of attachment in execution was served to the municipality, this time for an outstanding amount of just over R6 000.

A source within the municipality said it was apparent that TCLM had a nonchalant attitude toward the payment of any account, regardless of the amount.

This time the sheriff time wrote up five computers, four office chairs, one desk and five cabinets.

This has been the fourth time TCLM has been threatened with repossession of assets in more than a month. The municipality now has 21 days to pay the outstanding amount before the assets will be seized and auctioned.

The acting municipal manager, Mr Godfrey Nkosi, told the newspaper during the last notice of attachment, that TCLM was on top of these matters and was dealing with them with the assistance of its legal team.

“We request service providers to whom we owe money to come forward and prove what services they have rendered and how much is owing. The attorneys should at least come to the municipality to make arrangements for payment,” Nkosi added.
