Man is assualted in Marloth Park

MARLOTH PARK – Last year ended tragically for a resident Mr Daniel Erasmus (65), who was assaulted by a group of people.

According to an eyewitness, at about 20:20 on December 31, he and the victim went to the house of the suspects to ask them to turn down their music. They cursed them and started hitting Erasmus, kicking and stoning him.

The SAPS found the victim in a critical condition with injuries to his face and body. He had difficulty breathing and a weak pulse and was rushed to a hospital in Nelspruit by ambulance.

The five suspects were identified by the eyewitness and arrested. They appeared in court on January 2 and released on R2 000 bail.
