Young girl severely whipped for playing with flour

She says the girl's bruised body showed she was whipped with either a sjambok or a belt

GA MAMPURU – A six-year-old girl was allegedly assaulted by a neighbour who accused her of mixing cake flour and water, and smearing it on the kitchen floor.

Dimakatso Selwane (33) wants to see justice done after her daughter was allegedly beaten by her heartless neighbour on January 16.

“I trusted and respected my neighbour as she is older than me, but I will never forgive her for what she did to my daughter. I know children are naughty but the severe beating experienced by my little girl will forever haunt me. My daughter’s body will be scarred forever.

“The worst part is that my child was not alone when they played with the flour but she was the only one punished, maybe this woman has a personal vendetta with me,” said the disappointed mother.

Selwane told Steelburger/ Lydenburg News that she was shocked to see her daughter shivering and bruised when she arrived back home from work.

“Looking at my child, I just sensed that something was wrong; she couldn’t utter a word. I took her to the Boshoff clinic for treatment. There I was advised to open a case as the nurses felt the injuries were severe.

She says the girl’s bruised body showed she had been whipped with either a sjambok or a belt.

Selwane added that her daughter divulged to her that the neighbour kept on insulting her and slamming her face into the concrete walls as she was beating her.

Community members in the area alleged that the neighbour was bragging about her actions saying she “taught the girl a lesson”.

The Burgersfort police confirmed that an assault case had been opened and they were still busy with the investigations
