Nkomazi to launch first-ever radio station
After many months of uncertainty, the day has finally arrived to announce that Nkomazi FM, Nkomazi's first radio broadcasting station will officially launch next Monday.
MALALANE – After many months of uncertainty, the day has finally arrived to announce that Nkomazi FM, Nkomazi’s first radio broadcasting station will officially launch next Monday.
Nkomazi is probably one of only a handful of communities who have waited for years to benefit from the advantages of community broadcasting and the management team is immensely proud of being involved in all the planning and preparation which has led to this great initiative being realised.
The tenacious team faced a number of challenges along the way which the community may not be aware of. One of these factors being the major upgrade to the transmitter site at Mbuzini, which has improved signal distribution and facilitates the digital migration phase to consumers and enabled the transmitter connection for Nkomazi FM.
The radio station manager, Mr Makhositive Zulu, said this dream had been long in the making and to experience their efforts coming to fruition was immensely satisfying to all members of their board of directors and management team.
“Nkomazi FM is a community broadcaster and as such has ensured that the programming content is focused on social development, education, community affairs and stimulation of local economy in the region. We have a great line-up of presenters, selected from community auditions held in 2013, who have spent more than six months preparing themselves to entertain and stimulate dialogue within the Nkomazi communities. We support local talent in all entertainment spheres and will use the platform of the station to promote and showcase our valuable and talented artists, making use of an avenue which hasn’t previously been available to the youth,” said Zulu.
