Council ready to fix street at last

MALALANE – Last week Corridor Gazette reported on the poor condition of Witkruisarend Street in Fish Eagle, after which the spokesman for the municipality, Mr Cyril Ripinga, promised to personally inspect the street.

This week Ripinga informed the paper that he did as he had promised and would see to it that the matter was addressed by next week at the latest.

“Well as I had promised, I have personally gone to check the condition of this road in Fish Eagle, and agree that it is a reason for concern and a genuine concern by residents. At the moment we are looking at how best to fix the problem, as we have discovered there are a constant flow of water down the street,” Ripinga explained.

He said that by simply putting back the removed paving bricks would not be a solution to the problem.

“I am informed that the materials required to best resolve the problem have already been ordered and, once they arrive, a team will be sent down there to repair the damage. Hopefully that will be this week, but by the latest next week. The road will be fixed,” concluded Ripinga.
