Langeloop residents protest against poor service delivery
An EFF member accused of organising and mobilising service-delivery protests in this community has denied any involvement.
LANGELOOP – An EFF member accused of organising and mobilising service-delivery protests in this community has denied any involvement.
This came to light after residents embarked on a second service-delivery protest, where they barricaded the road with rocks and demanded water.
Mr Witness Sibiya, former ANC member said those who had made these allegations should stop pointing fingers at him and address the needs of the people.
“If the community strikes, it’s because they aren’t satisfied with what they receive or they do not receive any services. I have never mobilised people to block roads or protest. It honestly frustrates me when I hear that I am to blame,” said a displeased Sibiya.
He stated that the reason he wanted to set the record straight was because he feared that if someone’s vehicle was damaged during protests believed to be politically motivated, he would be liable.
“Councillors who accuse me of mobilising people to protest should focus on addressing people’s needs, and stop pointing fingers to those responsible. I am also affected negatively by these strikes because I run my own business. I was a loyal member of the ruling party, but now I am focusing on my business,” concluded Sibiya.
