Concrete dug up around traffic lights

The concrete around the traffic lights have been dug up.

NELSPRUIT – Residents’ interest has lately been piqued by a strange sight at the traffic lights located at the intersection at the R40 and Lydenburg-road.

The concrete around the lights had been dug up. While this may be because the electricity cables are being stolen, the lights have been functioning normally.

Mr Joseph Ngala, spokesman for Mbombela municipality, said that while cable theft was rife all over the country, no problems with these traffic lights had been reported to him and the dig-ups may be part of normal road works as part of the ongoing widening of the R40 in Riverside.
