Neccta meeting set to address concerns
Nkomazi Combined Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Association (Neccta) invited DDP Valuers, to be guest speakers at the Komatipoort and Malalane events on March 19.
MALALANE – Nkomazi Combined Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Association (Neccta) invited DDP Valuers, which did the property valuation roll for the municipality, to be its guest speaker at its Komatipoort and Malalane events on March 19 to address the concerns of the appropriation of taxes and property valuation services on March 19.
Concerned parties are invited to attend the gatherings and are welcome to raise their concerns and participate in the discussion.
Chairman of Neccta, Mr Jan Engelbrecht explained, “The meetings would not only address the roll and the rate, but certainly will also entertain who pays taxes and rates in Nkomazi and the appropriation of taxes.
“Pursuant to the fact that the previous valuation roll was totally unacceptable with discrepancies that amazed, many taxpayers showed interest to become more involved and educated in as far as the latest municipal valuation roll is concerned.”
The latest valuation roll is available on www.nkomazi.gov.za and objections can be lodged in the event of assessments not being correct, in terms of Section 49(1)(a)(ii) with Section 78(2) of the Local Government Municipal Property Rates Act 6 of 2004 and those procedures needs to be followed according to Engelbrecht.
The convenience of these gatherings is that taxpayers and concerned parties will have the opportunity to discuss the roll with the author of the roll, by direct interaction.
Neccta as well as the Malalane Chamber of Commerce, and to the extent that Marloth Park Property Owners Association will join these meetings, will also try to certain who in Nkomazi is taxed and who not, and what the grounds for this is or could be.
“A proper analysis of the valuation and taxes to come, is the intention of these gatherings. The meetings will also address the appropriation, not of taxes received by municipality, and the lack of maintenance and services, where taxes are collected.
“The meeting in Komatipoort will be at the Kambaku Golf Club and will be from 11:00 to 13:00. The one in Malalane commences at 14:00. Interested parties are to contact the conveners or chairmans of these forums of organised trade and tourism to learn more, Malalane chairman Herman Potgieter,” said Engelbrecht.
