Resident bodybuilder to compete in major competition

Tessa Els is well known in the community for her participation in several bodybuilding competitions.

Tessa Els is well known in the community for her participation in several bodybuilding competitions. She entered her first contest in 2012 and has been as passionate about it since.

In 2013 Tessa took part in a number of bodybuilding events and was the Mpumalanga Ladies Figure winner for a second consecutive year.

She is now preparing for the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness’ RUDX Millennium Gold Plate Fitness & Bodybuilding Show, which will be held in Germiston on April 12. The winner of this event will automatically go through to the Arnold Sports Festival in Europe.

Tessa’s daily routine includes gymming for one hour and thirty minutes at her and her husband’s Afgri Gym in Hazyview. She also has a new trainer based in Johannesburg who adjusts her diet and workout plan weekly.

“This has made a huge difference,” says Tessa. “I have more muscle mass and it looks phenomenal! To achieve and maintain this takes an enormous amount of hard work and complete dedication. I have to eat seven meals a day at two-hourly intervals. To prevent dehydration I also have to consume copious water.”

“I think my husband, Piet, deserves an award,” continues Tessa. “He supports me and ensures that I remain focussed. I also have sponsors during the competitions. They are amazing and I appreciate them and what they do for me; Garath Colbert, Eagle Glass, Leshé and Jessica Verwey, Bliss Health & Skincare and Willie Scheers from Creatif Salon.”

Hazyview Herald wishes Tessa the best of luck.
