A 54-year-old man, Mr Jacobus Petrus Strydom, was found dead in his vehicle outside a gym on Friday morning.
According to Mr Jacques Meiring of Bossies Community Justice, a car guard saw Strydom coming out of Training Edge gym at Westend shopping centre and get into his vehicle. “The guard then waited to see when he would leave and when he didn’t after a while, he went to check on him.”
Meiring said the guard felt his pulse and realised that Strydom had died. Police, Hi-Tech security and Bossies were called to the scene.
According to Capt Dawie Pretorius, police first regard a case like this as a crime scene until a post-mortem has determined the exact cause of death. It was performed on Monday morning, and confirmed that death was due to natural causes.
Pretorius confirmed that the police’s inquest had been finalised.
