LYDENBURG – The swift reaction of police led to the confiscation of 30 kilogram dagga.
According to ?? Teddy Ngwane the police received information that there was a suspect in possession of dagga in Mashishing. “We went to the house with a search warrant and asked permission to search the property.”
After the house was searched, officers inspected the rest of the area. “We found several bags of dagga on the rooftop.”
According to Ngwane the suspect denied that it was his and claimed that someone from Nelspruit apparently gave it to him. The street value is an estimated of about R30 000.
Communications officer of Lydenburg SAPS, Capt Mabokalate Mashabela, said the confiscated dagga will be disposed of. “It is a major problem in town. We urge the community to report any information regarding the manufacturing or possession of dagga to police.”
The suspect appeared in the Lydenburg Magistrate’s Court today (Friday) on charges of the possession of drugs. The dagga apparently came from Mozambique.
