LYDENBURG –The town was abuzz since early this morning when voters showed up at the ballots to make their mark in the national election.
Despite a long queue of voters, the station at the Recreational hall had a 15 minute delay in opening their doors allowing residents at this station to cast their vote.
When it was eventually up and running, both the executive mayor of TCM, Mr Michael Ncongwane and DA Deputy Chairman of Mpumalanga Sonja Boshoff was some of the first to cast their all-important votes.
Despite the queues, voters were eager to get to the ballot tables.
At the Thaba Chweu Municipal building queues were already lined up and voters were cheery despite a long wait. In Mashishing several voting stations were already lined with residents and councillors and party representatives were running around assisting the crowds with voting procedures.
The TCM building is expected to be the busiest station during the election as some 6000 residents are registered to vote there.
