A peaceful election

So far no incidents had been reported in the area and the elcetions have proceeded with no hiccups

Residents of the City were up and about early this morning to be the first to cast their vote. Although most voting stations opened at exactly 07:00, Lowveld Laerskool did experience a hiccup but were right on track 20 minutes later.

So far no incidents had been reported in the area and the elections have proceeded with no hiccups. Police had been stationed at the voting areas since the beginning of the week.

The schools voting station was one of the biggest in the capital expecting more than 4000 people to cast their votes there.

Yet the Mbombela Civic Centre was equally busy with a queue winding down the road with patient people waiting their turns.

The most prominent political parties at stations rallying for voters were the ANC, DA and EFF.

EFF member Mr Bonginkosi Mabuza said he wasn’t very confident of winning a lot of votes at the Laerskool Laeveld voting station, but he thought his party nationally would overall be doing extremely well in the elections.

DA Councillor Ms Felicity Lange said she was grateful to see so many people coming out to vote. “This is history in the making, we are extremely blessed.”

ANC members Ms Fikile Motha and Nonhlanhla Gininda said they were confident their party was going to have a landslide victory. “We are going to get the two –thirds majority”.
