DA blue wave flow though Umjindi

Democratic Alliance provincial leader, Anthony Benadie said the party was still the authentic party it always was.

Democratic Alliance provincial leader, Anthony Benadie said the party was still the authentic party it always was.

Taking the party’s “blue wave” through Umjindi last Friday, Benadie further urged local residents to vote for DA as the party would provide reliable financial and medical support.

Benadie first had a breakfast with local business people at Josephine’s restaurant. He, along with DA councillors in Umjindi – Philip Minnaar, Elsabe Jacobs and Meiston Mnisi – then went on a campaigning mission around town before concluding it at Emjindini.

Speaking to businesses, Benadie said he needed each and every person to become a member of the party. “I hear some of you are saying you are not going to vote on May 7, but remember, your vote can make history. I urge you, when you leave here, please go to your co-workers, your employers, friends and family members and tell them to vote for the DA. Voters need to practice not to vote for the ANC,” said Benadie.

“The country has come so far to be where it is now. We can’t go back. The apartheid we are experiencing today is that of Nkandla and if the ANC wins the next government elections, it means it will continue,” said Benadie.

During their campaign around the town, the party interacted with community members.

One local residents, Deliwe Ngutsahana, who resides at Touras plantation, said she would refuse to vote for any politicians. “The DA and the ANC are the same. The only time politicians worry about us people is at election time. That’s why they all come here now,” she said on the pavement as the music and the jubilant noise of the blue wave faded away.

Some said they would vote for the DA to get rid of the ANC’s “jobs for pals” scheme.

“The ANC just provides jobs for their own people in the township, we don’t get anything,” complained Sizwe Shongwe, an unemployed brick layer.

At Ekujabuleni disabled centre in Emjindini, Benadie promised the handicapped reliable financial and medical support if they would vote the DA into power.

He was clearly pleased with the beading crafts designed by the disabled.
