Sex murder trial : Accused claims prostitute asked for rough sex

NELSPRUIT – A man accused of brutally murdering a sex worker appeared in court. Mr Paul Andries Opperman (25) appeared in front of Judge Mr Eben Jordaan in the Gauteng Circuit of the High Court in Nelspruit on Monday.

Opperman was charged with the murder and robbery of sex worker Ms Anita Tumelo Loba on March 13,2012 near Steelpoort and Lydenburg .

He pleaded not guilty to murder and robbery but pleaded guilty to culpable homicide. His defence read out his statement where he stated that he had taken alcohol and sniffed cat before picking up the deceased. He also stated that she had requested rough sex and insisted he hit her.
