Successes and challenges for security companies

Last week brought both successes and failures for local security companies and Bossies Community Justice.

Local law enforcement and security companies experienced both successes and challenges the past week with robbers escaping and goods being recovered.

A trio of armed robbers proved to be a challenge when they failed to break into a Claremont house last week but managed to escape. According to Mr Jacques Meiring of Bossies Community Justice (BCJ), the robbers tried breaking into the house three times during the course of Monday night and Tuesday.

BCJ and local security companies arranged a special operation on Tuesday night to try and arrest the robbers but they never appeared. The robbers returned to the house on Friday morning and poisoned the residents’ dogs.

In regards to successes, a combined operation between BCJ and Blackhawk Security proved fruitful on Sunday afternoon. The companies recovered a gun safe containing knives and ammunition that was stolen about three weeks ago from a house in Sunset View, Stonehenge.

The safe was discarded in bush next to the complex and a total of 78 knives and some ammunition were found inside. Two rifles, jewellery and other knives that had also been in the safe were missing.

BCJ would like to thank the SAPS detective branch for their quick response and assistance.
