Council confirmed that the refurbishment of roads in all Thaba Chweu municipal wards is underway as a R20m project had been registered and would be implemented in the 2014/15 financial year

LYDENBURG – Thaba Chweu Municipality (TCM) recently issued a press release stating that it is working very hard in resolving all the basic infrastructural challenges being experienced by its ratepayers relating to electricity, water, sanitation and roads.
TCM said that the following infrastructural projects have been undertaken by the municipality: “Lydenburg bulk water supply line from dam to WTW (project to assist greatly in alleviation of water shortages in Lydenburg and surrounding areas) are in progress and expected to be completed soon. The water provision to Draaikraal is 90 per cent complete.”
Council confirmed that the refurbishment of roads in all Thaba Chweu municipal wards is underway as a R20m project had been registered and would be implemented in the 2014/15 financial year. “The refurbishment of roads in Draaikraal is 75 per cent complete and the refurbishment of roads in Coromandel has been completed.”
TCM also stated that the electrical network in and around town are integrated differently. “Because residential and businesses are separated it is unfortunately unable to separate the two as suggested. Currently Rooidraai substation is up and running and this eases the pressure in town. External stakeholders contributed to make sure that the substation is properly working so the town has electricity all the time.”
It confirmed that the fencing of municipal cemeteries had been completed and that electrification in Mashishing and other areas of the municipality had also been completed.
