Marota primary puts Tubatse on the map
Mahole also thanked the local community for supporting the learners from the first day when they participated in the Sekhukhune district and also on provincial level.
GAMOTODI- Marota Primary School has been on everyone’s lips, the school represented Limpopo province in the baswa le meetse (youth in water) national competition and won the first prize.
The competition was organised by the Department of Agriculture, Rural Development Land and Environmental Affairs in partnership with the Department of Basic Education at the Birchwood Hotel in Gauteng province on Friday July 4. Scholars from all nine provinces participated. The competition which targeted grade-seven learners was based on projects that conveyed health and hygiene messages through art mediums such as drama, traditional music, poetry, praise singing and posters. It also promoted hygiene, stimulated the interest of youth in water-related careers and promoted cultural diversity.
Three grade-seven learners, Loveness Maphanga, Keabetswe Mashabela, and Antoinette Mamphoke, won awards int the poetry section. The trio were mentored by their teacher Kgoshigadi Sekhukhune who is regarded as the master of cultural renditions at the school.
Sekhukhune said she was very happy about the girls’ achievement, “they made the whole province, the region and Tubatse proud. This is an honour to the school, we will forever cherish this moment,” she enthused. Principal of the school, Ms MS Mahole, described the achievement as exceptional. “We are honoured to have mentored the learners, and it shows that hard work pays. I am positive that Marota will achieve more accolades in future, this is just the start,” she remarked.

For their efforts, the learners won 21 computers, one overhead data projector, a three-in-one printer and a cash prize of R6 000 for their school.
