Drug dealer set to appear in court

The hearing of the alleged drug dealer who was arrested on July 26 will resume again today.

The hearing of the alleged drug dealer who was arrested on July 26 will resume again today.

Chigibo Ontiyo Samuel (37), a Nigerian national, appeared in the Barberton Magistrate’s Court on Monday last week, but the case had to be postponed due to the court’s failing to find an interpreter.

Samuel was remanded in custody until his appearance today.

During his arrest, police discovered 27 sachets of drugs, which weighed 84 grams, hidden in a fridge.

An amount of R13 500 hard cash was also discovered during the raid. Police said the narcotics had been sent to the laboratory to determine the origin.

Meanwhile, in our Barberton Times edition of July 30, we incorrectly stated that the Nigerian was from the Cathyville area. He is in fact, residing in Natal Street in Barberton, a street behind the Barberton police station.
