Leboeng SAPS condemn women abuse

MOKUTUNG – It seems like pleas for abusive men to stop ill-treating females are falling on deaf ears as a young teenage girl was raped by her biological father.
A 57-year-old man from the village was arrested on allegations of rape; he appeared in the Praktiseer Magistrate’s Court on August 18. This was after a case docket of rape was opened at the Leboeng SAPS on August 16.
According to the spokesman of Leboeng SAPS, Const Maimela Sibatana, the 17-year-old victim alleged that her father raped her in a street in the village. It’s alleged that the victim was asleep in her room, when her father entered the room and demanded the girl to fetch a hairdryer that she had borrowed to a friend without the father’s knowledge.
“On her way back, she encountered her father who chased after and raped her,” alleged Sibatana.
Sibatana told Steelburger/Lydenburg News that the SAPS condemn abuse against woman and children.
“We encourage the community to report any form of abuse. We warn those who are acting in the illegal deed to stop, as they will face the wrath of the law.
The case was postponed to August 26, for legal aid application The suspect is still in custody.
Meanwhile on August 19 Jane Furse police arrested a 25-year-old man residing in the area for the possession of an unlicensed firearm. Police received a tip-off from community members that the man was terrorising locals with the gun.
Police managed to arrest the suspect and confiscated a 9mm pistol with ammunition. The suspect will appear in the Nebo Magistrate’s Court on August 22.
