Alleged drug bust suspect granted bail

A TSB truck was found with 340kg of dagga during a roadblock outside Malalane on Sunday evening.

MALALANE – A TSB truck was found with 340kg of dagga during a roadblock outside Malalane on Sunday evening.

According to police spokesman, Const Bheki Nkosi they received a tip-off and then used a roadblock on the N4 to pull over the vehicle.

“They were searching the truck when they found the dagga on top of the sugar.” The police struggled to have the plastic-wrapped bags weighed, Nkosi said. “The dagga is too heavy for the post-office scales, we took them to Onderberg Fruit Processors weighbridge on Monday.”

Corridor Gazette witnessed the dagga being transported from the post office with two officers on the back keeping the bags from falling off. Mr Vusi Khoza, spokesman for TSB said, “We were unaware of this but we will take actions to prevent this from happening again.”

The driver of the truck appeared in the Periodical Court today and was granted bail of R5 000. “The trial has been postponed to September 29,” Nkosi said.
