Former Mpumalanga Head of Department back in court
Thulani Sibuyi and Vusi Mashaba answer to fraud charges this week.
MBOMBELA – The former Head of Department for Mpumalanga’s safety and security is back in court along with GNT Security owner Vusi Mashaba this week.
Thulani Sibuyi was arrested in connection with the awarding of security contracts for government offices in 2013. His arrest was subsequent to the arrest of Vusi Mashaba. Both Sibuyi and Mashaba were released on bail of R 50 000.00 each.
The matter resumed in the Mbombela Regional Court this week.
Both Sibuyi and Mashaba have been accused of fraud amounting to more than seven billion rand, with the additional contravention of the Public Finance Management Act being adduced to the former Head of Deparment.
Lowvelder previously reported that Mashaba alledgedly used a fraudlent tax clearance certificate when applying for the tender worth about R 4 million rand a month.
The accused parties denied that they committed fraud.
The state proceeded to call witnesses after making it’s case against the accused.
