BURGERSFORT – On August 29, Twinkle Kids Edu-Care Centre invited a local dentist to teach the children how to take care of their teeth. Children were given a free lecture by Dr Eric Matlakala, who ensured they understood the importance of preserving healthy teeth from a young age. He taught them about a healthy brushing routine that can maintain and assure that their teeth remained healthier.
The learners had a chance to have their teeth checked for problems free of charge. It was so interesting because the young ones had an opportunity to ask the dentist some questions.
“After realising that my learners’ teeth looked horrible, I decided to ask the dentist to visit us so that he could teach the young ones to take care of their teeth. He is such a compassionate person,” said grade R teacher, Ms Mariska Sadler.
The school principal and owner, Ms Fatima Mahomed, thanked Sadler for inviting the doctor. “I am so happy that he taught my kids today said Mahomed.
“I came here to teach and check the condition of these children’s teeth free of charge because I love kids. I have invited them to visit my surgery learn more about dentistry,” said Dr Eric Matlakala.
Learners received gifts packs containing a kiddies’ toothbrush, toothpaste and a letter to parents that read: ‘You don’t have to wait until your child is in pain to bring them to a dentist.’
