Angry mob torch the house of a chief

The house was burnt by angry community members who alleged the local chief, Kgoshigadi Suzan Maisela authorized the Bokoni platinum’s open cast to mine in the area.

ATOK – A double- storey house and a Nissan Hardbody bakkie belonging to a local chieftain was torched by an angry mob at Ga Monotwane village on the night of October 6, the incident happened at around 20:00.

Only the back rooms of the house were burned, the family reacted swiftly and douse the fire before it reached the front parts of the once beautiful house. The estimated damage is rumoured to be R500 000.

The mine’s blasting operation hit and killed a man who was doing welding works in the village, earlier on the day, the man was hit by a rock.
