LYDENBURG – Lesodi Primary School’s grade sevens had fun discussing their chosen career paths at the school’s career day in Mashishing.
They were asked to research a vocation of interest to them dress up accordingly and do a presentation.
Career Dress-up Day is an initiative of the Department of Education, and is held in October every year.
Ms Dikgogo Margaret Mahlangu, a grade seven teacher, said t it was a fun event aimed at encouraging career awareness among the learners. “It is part of the life-orientation curriculum learning outcome,” she explained.
Thirteen-year-old Surprise Lebea said she wanted to be a scientist. “I want to know how the earth rotates and educate my community.” Aspiring forensic scientist, Kgotlelelo Phetla (12) said she wanted to gather and examine information about the past. “Many people burn to death in our community, but their remains are not recovered and I want to be the first to do that,” she explained.
Aspiring lawyers, engineers, doctors, and law enforcers showed their potential as future leaders of Mpumalanga.
