LHS learners awarded for their talent, dedication and participation in culture events

MBOMBELA – Lowveld High School held their prestigious Culture Awards on Tuesday evening and recognised all the talented and dedicated learners for their hard work and participation in the cultural field during 2014.
Several certificates, trophies and colours were awarded, but it was especially the top awards that drew attention.
This year Basani Furumele was one of the brightest stars as she was crowned Best Actress as well as Most Versatile Pupil in the Arts. She participated in most of the school’s cultural spheres and participated in the Nelspruit Eisteddfod from grade eight where she received distinctions in the Afrikaans and English poetry categories. She also took part in both the African Explosions and was the school’s representative as the mezzo soprano soloist in the SASCE Competition where she was placed second in the region. Furumele has also been been part of three operetta casts, playing the lead role in this year’s version of Shake, Ripple and Roll.
The Best Actor award went to Sinenhlanhla Chauke while Angela Khumalo was named Choir Girl of the Year and Ben Qwabe, Choir Boy.
