When men put dinner on the table

This day is dedicated to all the men who never spend time in the kitchen and are reliant on take-away’s and shop bought meals.

There is a day dedicated to men who do not know the difference between a spatula and a skewer. November 6 is Men Make Dinner Day and is celebrated every first Thursday of November. This is a day where they can get accustomed to a kitchen instead of  their garages. The rules for this special day are simple. Men have to make dinner completely from scratch and may not use the following shortcuts:

  • Take-out pizza
  • Left-overs from the previous night
  • Anything coming from a braai. (In other men may not braai something for dinner)

This day is dedicated to all the men who never spend time in the kitchen and are reliant on take-away’s and shop bought meals.

There are a number of easy to make meals that will be quick, tasty and won’t hurt your wallet.

  1. Stir Fry

Whip together some of your favorite veggies throw in some meat and hear it sizzle to perfection. All you need is a bit of oil, a fork, wooden spoon and even a spatula to stir the vegetable and meat mix. You can literally put any vegetable into a stir fry and it should taste good.

  1. Hamburger

The traditional hamburger is one of the easier meals to make. You only need a fresh bread roll, lettuce, tomato, and a packet of mince. Make an average sized patty using a mug to shape the patties. Spice the mince with black pepper, salt, Worcestershire sauce, onions or any other spice you might want to add. Fry the patties until cooked, smother with some tomato sauce and mustard and enjoy.

  1. Tuna/Chicken Salad

There is nothing better than a wholesome and healthy salad even for men. Whip up any combination of greens, tomatoes, cucumbers and spring onion. Slice it into any desired size and add some grilled chicken strips.

       4.  Scrambled Eggs with a twist

Take some eggs put them into a microwave friendly mixing bowl, add salt and pepper to taste and add any selection of tuna, peppers, tomato or mushrooms to the eggs.
