Victory Park Primary pupils praised for their achievements

The Hillsview school recently held a prize-giving for its foundation-phase pupils to encourage them to continue their hard work.

It was quite a jolly affair, with children singing gospel songs to open the ceremony, parents jumping up as their child’s name was read and even hugging them on stage.

Staff praised the learners’ achievements, saying that some of them had no parents and were being raised by grandparents.

However, they still managed to excel at school and served as an inspiration for their classmates.

Pupils who received 70 per cent or higher in Afrikaans, English or maths received a bronze certificate, 80 per cent and higher a silver certificate and a mark of 90 per cent or higher earned them a gold certificate.

The best readers and most well-behaved pupils in each class were also rewarded with certificates of achievement.

After the ceremony, parents could enjoy some snacks and drinks and chat to teachers before heading back to work.
