LYDENBURG – The colour blue was seen throughout the prostate cancer awareness walk in Lydenburg on Saturday morning.

According to the national cancer registry of 2004, there is a one-in-23 risk for South African men to be diagnosed with prostate cancer.

These walks help raise funds for those affected by the disease. The participants gathered at Spaar-O-Rama and walked along Voortrekker Street to Legends at the Heads Shopping Centre.

The contributors were addressed on various issues regarding prostate cancer, such as factors that increase their risk and were given precautionary measures to prevent the diseases.

A professional nurse was available to give finger-prick blood tests. After the walk the guests enjoyed a light lunch.
