Can-do approach leads to a lasting change

According to Jane, a total of 222 children currently benefit from their assistance.

MBOMBELA – Child Welfare SA’s local office recently received a valuable “gift” when learners of Curro School donated more than

1 000 items of non-perishable foodstuffs through the Donate a Can project.

According to Penny Jane of Child Welfare, this enabled them to feed 28 families – 64 adults and 114 children to whom they provide weekly food parcels.

The organisation has been rendering social-welfare services to the community of Mbombela and surrounding areas since 1937, after a number of women came together with the aim of assisting children and families in need. According to Jane, a total of 222 children currently benefit from their assistance.

“Two drop-in centres also have our support where school-going children receive a daily meal each weekday,” Jane said.

She expressed her gratitude towards the Lions Club for driving this project for over a decade.

“We wish to thank the Nelspruit Lions Club members for their consistency in driving this project of collecting groceries every year

on our behalf.

It is truly a wonderful effort,” Nomfundo Myeza, office manager of Child Welfare, said.

They also thanked Curro for their wonderful effort in helping those in need.
