Security now has eyes in the sky

BCJ welcomes a drone and a new vehicle to assist in crime prevention.

This security company has taken community safety to the next level. Bossies Community Justice (BCJ) has acquired two new pieces of equipment to assist in crime fighting and prevention – a brand new 3 liter Toyota Hilux and an unmanned areal vehicle (UAV), or drone. The drone is a small flying instrument with a camera attached to it.

Mr Jacques Meiring, operational manager of BCJ, said the drone would prove to be of immeasurable value to track suspects of farm attacks, since it will provide a bird’s eye view of the area. “The drone has a built-in thermalflir, which means it can pick up heat emitted from a living body,” said Meiring. “So those who think they can hide from the drone under a tree or a bush are in for a treat. This function also allows us to ‘see’ at night.”

The drone will require BCJ to be in close contact with the air force, since they will have to notify them every time they launch it.
Besides the drone, BCJ is also excited about the latest addition to their fleet, a Toyota Hilux. “The Toyota is faster and bigger then the Ford Ranger. We will install cages in the car as soon as possible to transport the dogs.”

Bossie, the black Labrador and namesake of the company, will soon welcome a new friend. Vissie Visser, their newest employee, is training a Belgian Sheppard to join the unit.

“We are excited about the newest additions to the company,” said Meiring. “We could not have done it without sponsors and support from the public.”
