Marching group reaches Pretoria, prepares for Union Buildings

Against all odds, they completed their voyage in 82 hours.

MBOMBELA – After three days of gruelling climbs, a beating sun, heavy rain and bleeding blisters, the group of men who had taken on a pilgrimage from our city to the Union Buildings to stand up against the killing of police officers and white farmers, arrived in the Jacaranda City around 17:30 on Wednesday.

They will start their journey to the Union Buildings today at 10:30.

Mr Duncan Nyawo, a student teacher from KaBokweni, who was joined by Messrs Ian Venter, Alex Leitch and Jaco Klopper departed from Mbombela at 08:00 and completed the 350-kilometre journey in an impressive 82 hours.

They were met by members of the media and a number of supporters with a bottle of bubbly to celebrate their heroism and amazing achievement.
