Load shedding could leave town in the dark

The power giants announced its new load shedding schedule today and said that the cooler weather conditions have put further pressure on an already constrained electricity grid.

LYDENBURG – It could be a cold and dark weekend for the town as Eskom implemented stage 1 load shedding today and this is likely to continue throughout the entire week.

The power giants announced its new load shedding schedule today and said that the cooler weather conditions have put further pressure on an already constrained electricity grid.

“The power system will not be able to meet 1 000MW of demand, meaning that although certain areas will be without electricity for a certain period, about 96% of South Africans will still continue to receive power supply at the same time,” Eskom said in a statement.
