Young father loses his life on Kaapmuiden Road
Barberton ER24 and EMRS were on the scene and had to free the driver from the wreckage using the Jaws of Life.
One man died and another was taken to Medi-Clinic Barberton with minor injuries. This happened at approximately 00:30 after they were involved in an accident on the Kaapmuiden Road. The accident took place four kilometers outside of Barberton and no other vehicles were involved except the VW Jetta in which the men were traveling.
The vehicle came to a standstill on the side of the road in the adjacent field with its engine lying in the road meters from the car.
Barberton ER24 and EMRS were on the scene and had to free the driver from the wreckage using the Jaws of Life.
Barberton Times spoke to the traumatised survivor, Rudi Roux (33) at the hospital. According to him he was driving with his friend, Peter Crament (28) on their way from Barberton towards Consort Mine. He couldn’t recall at the time how the accident occurred.
Roux said they were both employee’s of Barberton Mines. He leaves behind his wife and two small children.
