Miners take to the pitch in an effort to stay fit
"We are still building our team, in the coming weeks we want to be the best team in Lydenburg and Burgersfort, said the captain of the team, Katlego "Teka" Mankge.
In trying to keep fit, healthy and to exercise, Glencore Thorncliff mine’s workers participated in a soccer match against the Riba Cross Masters last Friday May 1. The match was played at the Mocheneng sports ground in Riba Cross.
The miners looked shaky in defence and ended up losing the encounter 5-2. They vowed to train harder in order to be ready for their next match. They previously played in Lydenburg and Tukakgomo.
“We are still building our team, in the coming weeks we want to be the best team in Lydenburg and Burgersfort, said the captain of the team, Katlego “Teka” Mankge.
The team members urged the mine’s other workers to join them and also for the management to support them.
