Man shoots another at family celebrations

A 64 year-old man appeared in the White River Magistrate’s court after he caused chaos at his victim's family celebrations.

According to security personnel at a guest house in Plaston, Glen Donovan Hanslo forced his way onto the premises where Given Mkhansi and his family were gathered for a celebration on May 3.

Hanslo reportedly entered the tent where the celebration was taking place and disconnected the sound system. When Mkhansi tried to intervene, the suspect pulled out a weapon and shot him.

Mkhansi was rushed to hospital for treatment.

Police apprehended Hanslo and he appeared in the White River Magistrate’s Court on May 12 on a charge of attempted murder. He was released on bail and the case postponed to June 24.
