Taribo Lifestyle Arena hosts fashion show

Among the designers whose models displayed their designs, were Nathi Bless Shongwe and Stella Gwebu-Mabunda both from South Africa, Sunny from Nigeria and Popy Dlamini from Swaziland.

The management of Taribo Lifestyle Arena has promised to create entertainment vibes similar to Johannesburg in Emjindini.

Speaking during the Kasi Fashion Show at the Taribo upper deck on Saturday afternoon, the owner Vusi Mabunda, said his place was not “your normal beer or alcohol establishment but a multipurpose arena that can host various events”.

Mabunda said the hosting of the Kasi Fashion Show, which was the second of its kind, was the beginning of entertainment he had lined up for the people of Umjindi.

“Ikasi livukile namuhla (the township is awake) and has come alive today. This is the beginning of good entertainment to come. What we expected today was quality not quantity. And what we see here is really what we expected – quality. Go and spread the words our dear friends, Emjindini – the township is awake,” said Mabunda.

He said the area, despite boasting decent meat and alcohol outlets, could also host conferences. The show was held under the theme, ”Afro Chic” and was dedicated to all those affected by the recent xenophobic attacks.

Many fashion lovers from around Umjindi attended the second edition of the Kasi Fashion Show. The designers distinctively design outfits that resembled their countries’ backgrounds and the models ensured that the entry fee was worth every cent. DJ Manando and the master of ceremony, Silungile Shabangu did not disappoint either as they ensured that the audience kept asking for more.

Overall, the atmosphere was fun, exciting and uniting, with every different nationality united by the fashion and everything else in between.
