Damage to pipe causes water to shut down

BURGERSFORT – Water in some areas of the town is cut due to construction problems in Church Street. For the last two weeks construction has been taking place in Marone, Dirk Winterbach and Church Street. Storm water drainage pipes along the roads are being fitted to prevent roads from flooding due to rainy seasons.

Since 12:00 this afternoon, water has been shut down in most parts of town. One of the water pipes in Church Street was damaged during the construction of the drainage pipes. The main road (Dirk Winterbach Street) and Church Street is flooded with water.

No reports were made to Steelburger/Lydenburg News for when the water will be turned on again.
