According to White River SAPS communication officer WO Gugulethu Phiri the station’s operation was very successful as 26 suspects were arrested on various charges.
The convoy of police officers and municipality officials were seen moving through the town’s business districts and visiting stalls and businesses to ensure they were abiding by the law.
Three people were arrested for possession of dagga, seven for trading without a licence, one for drinking liquor in public, three for selling counterfeit cigarettes and eight for being in the country illegally, one for attempted housebreaking and one for possession of stolen property.
Eighteen of these suspects appeared in the White River Magistrate’s Court yesterday, while eight others, including the seven trading without a licence, paid fines.
