GTM repairs the town’s robots

Spokesman for GTM, Mr Thabiso Mokoena, said locals would have the luxury of navigating heavy traffic as the lights were back on. "Since the past weekend our lights were working, only two or three sets are not operating as they had been vandalised. GTM is planning on fixing them in due course."

BURGERSFORT – After months of delays and promises by Greater Tubatse Municipality (GTM) to fix the robots in town it seems like the problems of inoperative traffic lights are a thing of the past.

Steelburger/Lydenburg News previously reported on complaints lodged by locals about these robots which had been out of order for more than 12 months.

Spokesman for GTM, Mr Thabiso Mokoena, said locals would have the luxury of navigating heavy traffic as the lights were back on. “Since the past weekend our lights were working, only two or three sets are not operating as they had been vandalised. GTM is planning on fixing them in due course.”

Mokoena revealed that the traffic lights in Praktiseer would also be reconnected. “We are just waiting for the renovations of the road to end before switching them on again.”

Several motorists applauded the municipality for finally ensuring that the lights were operative.

“No more convoys, the lights are now operating, hopefully accidents will also be curbed,” said local motorist Tshidiso Moraba.
