Water shortages to end by tomorrow

Maintenance to the water canal will hopefully be done by this afternoon and the supply will return to normal by tomorrow.

Residents who have encountered water shortges or low water pressure since Tuesday, should be advised that it is due to canal maintenance.

During the closure of the canal, water is supplied from the Sabie raw water pump station and the Hippo dam. Less than half of the normal supply is obtained from these two sources, which means that some areas won’t receive water or have low pressure.

The canal is scheduled to be opened this evening (at end-of-business), which will hopefully normalise the water situation by tomorrow morning.

Community members are urged to use water sparingly to prevent severe water shortages while the canal is closed.
