Water woes continue in Berg Street
When the newspaper however arrived at the site where said repairs were apparently taking place, there was not a soul in sight.

LYDENBURG – The water woes currently being experienced in Berg Street and surrounding areas should be resolved this afternoon.
This is according to the technical department of Thaba Chweu Municipality (TCM), despite the fact that the site is left totally unattended.
According to this department the new pipes which are replacing the old asbestos pipes have been fitted. The department said that an unexpected problem occurred in the meantime, but that water flow should be restored. “TCM is working around the clock to restore the water flow to residents in the area,” the department said.
Curios to find out what the problem was Steelburger/Lydenburg News visited the site. When the newspaper however arrived at the site where said repairs were apparently taking place, there was not a soul in sight.

Ms Hilda Ferreira, a resident in the affected area, said that not having water is no laughing matter. “We have three children, including a baby. We haven’t had water for more than a week. The washing is piled up and our geyser has had to be replaced on account of the interrupted water flow.”
She was furious when she also witnessed no one attending to the problem at Berg Street. “Enough is enough. How can they “attend” to this when there is nobody here?”
In the meantime areas in town are also left with no electricity as maintenance on one of the substations is being done.
