Break-in disturbs the neighbourhood’s peace

The suspects fled with a television set.

After two weeks of no break-ins in Stonehenge one occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning.

According to Mr Johan Janse van Rensburg of Nelspruit Concerned Citizens (NCC), suspects gained entrance to the property under the security fence whereafter they broke a glassdoor. According to Janse van Rensburg the suspects fled with a television set. “NCC patrollers and ACS security officers were on the scene in minutes pursuing the suspects, but unfortunately they fled into bushy area,” Janse van Rensburg added. He appealed to the community to be vigilant, especially if they reside close to wetland areas and asked the community to get involved in clean-up campaigns.

“The more people take hands the better results we will see in combating crime.” Janse van Rensburg also warned residents in the Steiltes area to be more alert as an increased criminal activity was noted over the past few days.

Capt Dawie Pretorius, spokesman for Mbombela SAPS, confirmed the incident. According to Pretorius when the resident, residing in Percy Fitzpatrick drive, returned home at 03:30 she noted that the television was gone. According to Pretorius it was the only case reported in the area.

NCC expressed their gratitude towards the SAPS who were quickly on the scene.
