Joint effort leads to recovery of hijacked truck
The management of the police in Mpumalanga is pleased with the manner in which trucks, which have been hijacked or stolen are being intercepted.

The White River Flying Squad in conjunction with members of Kaapmuiden police, intercepted a truck that was hijacked at Delmas last Wednesday.
According to Brig Selvy Mohlala, police provincial spokesman, the articulated vehicle worth about R1,7 million was on the Barberton Road en route to the N4 when it was seen by police officers.
“According to information provided by the members, they spotted the truck and signaled the driver to stop. However, he ignored their instructions and drove on,” said Mohlala.
He said the police then pursued and continued to signal the driver to pull over.
“The truck driver managed to join the N4 and turn towards the Nkomazi Toll Plaza in Kaapmuiden.
When he saw that the police had barricaded the road to stop him, the driver made a U-turn and drove towards Mbombela.
“The members fired shots aimed at the wheels of the truck. When the miscreant noticed that the police were hot on his heels, he tried to push their car off the road. His attempts failed and he decided to jump out of the the truck while it was still in motion and ran into the bush. The truck came to a standstill and no one was injured,” said Mohlala
