One of the police’s successes this weekend was the arrest of a suspect who allegedly murdered his neighbour. According to police they were summoned to Msholozi on Sunday morning and found the deceased with a stab wound.
The 35-year-old accused stated that he loaned his cellphone to the neighbour and when he tried to retrieve it, a scuffle ensued. The neighbour was stabbed and died. The accused was set to appear in court on Tuesday. Investigations into the case is still ongoing.
Four other suspects were also arrested. One was apprehended for theft and possession of suspected stolen property, another for kidnapping and assault, a third for business robbery and the fourth for housebreaking and theft.
SAPS communication officer, Const Cynthia Mbokodo, says the kidnapping occurred in Msholozi where a man was apparently seized at his house, taken to another location with his car and assaulted. The motive was still being investigated.
The four suspects all appeared in the local Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Community members are urged not to take the law into their own hands but to report crimes to the police station. Violent crimes in Msholozi are on the increase and police ask that the community work with them in order to route out criminals in the community.
