MALALANE – The Relay For Life urges locals to participate in the coming CANSA Relay For Life on October 31 at the Malalane rugby field. “We would really appreciate it if you would be involved in this great fund-raising initiative. “This is a unique event that offers everyone in our community the opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer. “It represent the hope that all the lives lost to cancer will never be forgotten and those fighting the disease will be supported, and that cancer may one day be eliminated,” said Karenza Botha, a member of the Relay For Life committee. The event is expected to take place from 18:00 to 06:00. Relay for Life embraces society, both young and old. Teams raise funds before and during the event which are utilised for CANSA’s unique, integrated service. “Relay for Life teams consist of 10 to 15 members each. They take turns to walk or run around the track for 12 to 24 hours. The goal is to keep one team member on the track at all times, as cancer never sleeps. Participants enjoy camping outside, entertainment, good food, games and community camaraderie. They all share a common purpose – their desire to assist CANSA fight cancer and support those affected,” Botha explained. “Participation towards this event will ensure that it is a resounding success and we look forward to your positive response.”
