MBOMBELA – The municipality have appealed to residents to avoid wasting water during the current harsh weather conditions.
In particular, consumers who are supplied from the KaNyamazane Water Scheme in Nsikazi South have been requested to exercise extra care.
Not only is the scorching heat expected to continue, but no rainfall is in sight, municipal manager Mr Noko Seanego said yesterday.
It has led to rivers running low, impacting the abstraction of raw water from the source.

The Eden Project says aside from saving water in short supply, using less water also reduces energy use and saves consumers money.
They offer these six water saving tips:
- Turn off the tap while brushing your teeth. It can save six litres of water per minute.
- Place a displacement device in your toilet cistern to reduce the volume of water used in each flush. A brick works.
- Take a shorter shower.
- Using full loads in your washing machine and dishwasher to cut down on the number of washes.
- Fix dripping taps. It can waste 15 litres of water a day, or 5 500 litres of water a year.
- Water your garden with a watering can instead of a hosepipe. A hosepipe uses 1 000 litres of water an hour. Watering in the early morning and late afternoon also reduces evaporation.
